"Vacation" Week

Hi all! I am on "vacation" this week, which means I'm still working at the church, and I still have people calling in orders and picking them up, and I'm still doing a little editing, but I give myself a little more free time to do fun things like play with Harlie, spend time with Mikey, and do some much-needed cleaning. Yes, I find cleaning rewarding and fun. I've also been able to scrapbook. I've gotten A TON scrapped this week, and I wanted to show you some of the new pages that I've fallen in love with. Some of the pics are old, so pardon the trip to the past.

I didn't get around to scrapping this one, but it's so cute I had to share.
This one is from Mother's Day.

We actually have no wedding this weekend, so we will be shopping (for fun) as a family on Saturday, and then coming home to relax together. I've been looking forward to it all month, so I'm getting really excited now. Have a good one, everyone!

A Bad Blogger

I know! I have been such a bad blogger, and I haven't so much as written one sentence for you all in over a month. In fact, as I try to write this, 20 minutes have gone by while I've been working on other things, and I'm just getting back to this pitiful excuse for a post! I'm going to try my very best to give you something good. I know you may not all want to read a mile-long entry, so I'm going to categorize my rambling:

Harlie: Probably the Rager you are most interested in, she is doing very well except for the major cold she's recovering from. Of course she is growing like a weed, except for the five pounds she lost in the past few months because of her extreme amount of energy. So far no one is worried about it (exept me of course). She still has a good appetite, and she is otherwise healthy (this cold is the first in a long time). She has become obsessed with "fashion" and enjoys wearing multiple bracelets and necklaces. I try to limit the amount she wears to church, warning her that we don't want to look too tacky when we're all dressed up. If she spots a new outfit in her closet (at this point we're switching to spring/summer clothes so they're all new to her) she will throw a tantrum until I let her put it on, so I usually pick her clothing out before she wakes up. Up until this past Saturday she had grown very attached to me, but Mikey took care of her while I handled our yard sale, so she is now in a "Daddy's Girl" mode, which suits me fine. He finally admits that she can be exhausting sometimes. She is loving the outdoors, so on warm days she usually drags us out as early as humanly possible. We had a chance to work in the garden a few weeks ago, and she enjoyed digging in the dirt with her garden rake and spade. Of course she won't allow me to cut her fingernails - it's really impossible at this point - so they are looking mighty rough at this point. *As I wrote this post (it ended up taking a few hours) Mike finally cut her nails, even though she screamed at the top of her lungs the entire time.* I have a ton of photos of her (of course) and I'll try to fill you in on her new "things" a little more under each picture.

Spike: I know he's just a dog, but he's my other baby and he needs mentioning. He's still cuddly and cute, and he still loves those outdoor adventures of chasing after poor defenseless (at least against him) animals.

Mike: He's still substituting, so he works every day, but he is home in the evenings with us and we are loving it. Unfortunately, since he hasn't been offered a permanent position anywhere yet, he will probably have to go back to a crazy work schedule again over the summer. We do need two incomes, as most families do at this point. He has applied for two teaching positions in our general area, so let's all pray that he gets an offer.

Me: Well you all know I like to talk, so I'll try to keep my paragraph short, but I can't promise anything. Our wedding season started a few weeks ago, so Saturdays will be tied up from now until November, but that means we're making some money so it's okay. I am still working in the church office as well, and I love it every bit as much as I did from the very start. I have also involved myself in a few more aspects of the church, as I tend to do when the opportunity arises. I would love to cut back on my schedule with photography, so that I have more time to play with Harlie, but until Mike is offered a job with benefits, I will have to keep this heavy schedule going. I am basically working seven days a week at this point, and I rarely have so much as an afternoon to do something relaxing and fun. But this is the career I chose, and I don't regret it. I just look forward to the day when I can cut my hours a bit and enjoy my family a little more. A few of you (and many more that don't really even know us) have asked us when we plan to have another baby. I love you all, and I know you never mean any harm by asking this question, but please watch the way you ask these things. Yes, we do want another baby, and yes we have been trying. We were successful a few months ago, only to miscarry very early. I'm okay with this, and I know that God will give us a baby if and when he wants to, but it's very hard to hear people wonder out loud why we aren't "wanting" a new one yet. We very much do "want" a baby, but that's sometimes not enough. We can try through July, but after that we will have to wait to try again until next March so that I don't have to break any contracts with customers next spring. Another thing for you all to pray for if you please. My paragraph is already way too long, and I could think of millions of things to say, so I'll just stop now. Thanks to anyone who has actually read this far and not just skipped ahead to the photos.

Now for what you really came to see:

Harlie will always stand for a photo with Spike, but I bribed him with promises of a "special treat" when we went inside. No worries - I didn't break my promise!
She's showing off her filthy gardening hands.

Digging in the dirt and loving every minute of it.

Playing with her two favorite finds - a jingle bell and a flashlight. So easily amused! Notice the adorable pigtails. She doesn't let me do it often, but this was the day I let her wear her new outfit (the one she threw a half-hour tantrum about the day before) so she wanted her hair to be special.

Mikey took this one. It's pretty cool, but he says the camera is in the way of his handsome-ness. Gotta love my conceited husband.

She LOVES wearing sunglasses - just another thing she looks cute in.

She spent the day with Mimi this day while Mike and I worked a wedding. We had a break between ceremony and reception, and chose to spend it visiting our cutie.

This jewelry box is completely full of rings, necklaces, and bracelets. You can see how many she likes to wear at a time. By the way, any hair ties she finds in my bathroom drawer double as bracelets in her mind.

Hunting for Easter eggs at Gigi's house. Funny story (now that I look back at it) - this is the day she got a tick in her butt. No joking! Mike had to take her to the doctor the next day to have it removed. The crazy things kids put us through!

These photos are really out of order, so I apologize. Blogger isn't letting me fix them today, and I don't have time to mess around. This one is of Harlie and Sam (my cousin's daughter) tooting a few horns.

Jen and I helped her make a necklace at the hunt.

Mikey helped ice the cookies. She took a few bites even before the icing went on.

She loved finding the eggs and filling her basket.

I love this outfit. I actually bought it a while ago with the idea of her wearing it for her 2nd birthday, but I don't think it will still fit six months from now, so we've started wearing it. We've had to do this with quite a few things. Her height is the main issue.

She LOVES blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. This has become one of our favorite snacks/desserts.

I actually think she looks quite a bit like me in this one. Same goofy smile!

Another cute outfit, right?

Playing Dress-Up

Hi guys!

I got Harlie's dress off of Ebay this year (Thanks for the idea, Misty - I ended up paying just $9 after shipping!) and as soon as it came in the mail she wanted to put it on. So Mikey and I made a trip to Gymboree for some accessories. They are featuring ladybugs in their spring line (Harlie's FAVORITE bug) and I knew some of the items would match her dress quite well. Anyway as soon as she saw everything, she wanted to put it on, and I obliged. Then it was off to her Mimi's house for some photos! So I can't wait any longer to share these, and I know you all are just itching for some new ones. Please enjoy as much as I do!

Sarah came in for a visit the other weekend, and we got all of the girls together just to hang out - for the first time in years (We miss you Mrs. Murphy)! Of course we had to have Mikey take a picture or two. In the bottom one, we tried to include the kiddos. Check out Aedan's face - he looks like the only sane one in the picture! Shawna's baby in her belly must have been kicking as if to say "Is this really the crazy group of people you want to bring me into???"

Love you guys!

Okay so I don't have much time to write - this is the first I've relaxed all day and it's 8:30 PM. But I did want to take a second to post a few pics for you guys. I promise I'll write more when I have time! Love you all!

We're Still Here

Okay all. I know it has been way too long, and I do have lots of photos to share, but no time to load them. My usual slow season is not at all slow this year. We actually had a wedding last weekend (Valentine's Day) and we have again tomorrow, which is very unusual for this season. Along with the weddings, I have multiple wedding and senior reorders, along with a few senior portraits still on my schedule. Basically I get up, feed Harlie and myself, go to work at the church, come home, make lunch, play with her for a bit, give her a nap, work while she sleeps, get her up, make supper, work while Mike watches her, play with her a bit more, bathe her, put her to bed, and work a bit more before crashing on the couch an hour or so before bed. Then I repeat it the next day. I really really need a break, but I need to get myself caught up first, or I'll begin to have angry customers on my hands. Anyway, sorry this is boring, and if you all skim through or skip reading altogether that's okay with me. I just wanted to write something so you didn't think I'd forgotten you.

Here's a fun thing to leave you with - Harlie's 15 month doctor visit stats (from a few weeks ago):
Height: 32 in (89%)
Weight: 29lb 9oz (97%)
Head: 18.58 in (84%)

She's still huge. Actually the doctor never mentioned her weight, and was about to leave the room when I brought it up just to make sure we shouldn't be concerned. She said that she didn't even notice her weight until I brought it up and she saw the number. She said when she looks at Har she doesn't see where the weight is. So that's a good thing. She is very very active, and I'm sure she's got most of that weight stored in muscles. My big girl. Anyway, I thought you all would get a chuckle out of those statistics.

Her Cuteness

Hi guys! For those of you that are just checking in, please keep reading, as I have multiple posts below. Actually these are just the photos that didn't fit with any of the others. I still have the desire to share them with all of you. Hope you like them!

Jeremy, Aunt Bonnie, and Harlie a few days after Christmas. It's so great to be around family. Definitely my favorite part of the holidays. Kelly, we missed you. Maybe next time!

This is one of her new "things". She has found (oops, my fault) that she can really get a reaction if she sticks the spoon in her mouth and wiggles it around with her tongue/teeth. Also, notice the food smeared through her hair. Just another thing she does to drive me crazy.

_______________________________

I really want to make sure we remember this part of her life. Harlie loves all of her toys, and she loves all of her books, but I never realized how much she would love this box of books my mom and dad got her for Christmas in 2007. There is one book for each letter of the alphabet, and they are just tiny little blocks. Each book has 4 or 5 pictures of something starting with that letter, and the word is written on the opposite page. She walks around for hours each day just shoving book after book in my face, pointing and screaming for me to tell her what each thing is. She has learned so many words this way. Of course she won't say any of them, but she can find anything we ask her to. I LOVE that this is what she is interested in at this point, and I want to make sure to remember it forever.

Vacation

Mike, Harlie, and I went on a little trip at the beginning of the month. We stayed in a sweet little cottage in Colonial Beach, Virginia. We had a relaxing week, and I can't wait to go back again. If anyone is interested in visiting a small town and just getting away, any time of year, check out this site: http://www.twinmaplesva.com./ The price is right and the cottage is so clean and has everything you need. Anything else you need can be found 5 minutes away. It's great.

Just the three of us on our last day before we made the trip back to PA.

We took a trip to DC one day to visit the zoo. We all loved it, especially Nugget. Here she is looking in one of the aquariums. She would run from exhibit to exhibit pointing at the animals she saw. She's definitely my kid!
