Fun in the Sun

When the weather gets hot, we get out the slip 'n slide! Of course, we are all either too old or too young to meet the requirements on the warning label, and Daddy and Mommy are definitely over the weight limit, but in its second year of use, it seems like $10 well-spent to me!

Follow-up

I've just glanced at my comments from the last post, and would like to attempt to stop a feud that seems to be brewing.  To my anonymous commenter who has suggested counseling at the Women's Help Center - thank you for your concern.  I am going to counseling, though where I go is of no business to anyone.  I hate the term "religious person", because what I am is a Christian, as is my husband.  Mistakes have been made, yes, but there is hope.  I have not forgiven my husband because I feel like I have to, or because I'm afraid to be on my own, but because I love him, and am still in love with him, and because he is a caring and wonderful father, and a safe haven for his children.  My girls are in absolutely no danger in this house, and neither am I.  My pain is mine to deal with, and God will help me through.  My thoughts are always of my daughters and their well-being, and I do not appreciate comments reminding me to "think of the children" because that is what I always do.  I know that I have published my thoughts in a public forum, and I cannot keep anyone from giving their input, but I can choose to whom I listen, and I will not listen to negativity about Mike, beause I am in complete support of him, no matter his past offenses.

Hard Times Filled With Love

Dearest Friends, Family, and any other reader of this post:

As most of you know, our family experienced an extreme tragedy last week. Any of you that don’t know can check it out for yourself on any news site for PA, I’m sure, but I won’t put any details on here. Of course, the media, as is their job, have put their own twist on everything, so we’ve chosen (and advised our families as well) to ignore the stories.

I’m not writing to clear the story up for you, or to plead my husband’s innocence. But I am writing to let you know how I feel, and to thank all of you for your love and support.

First, let me explain to those of you who don’t know our relationship well, that my husband and I have been married for 6 ½ years, together for 11, and we’ve had our fair share of issues right from the start. But we’ve always stood by each other, without a shadow of a doubt. Leaving my husband was never an option; I’d forgiven him before the police even left my house. He is a wonderful husband and father, just one whose mistakes (which we all make) have been made extremely public. My main concern for the past week has been keeping us together (Mikey, me, Harlie and Jordan) as a family. We’ve done that well so far, even if it’s meant sleeping apart or all packing up and sleeping in a strange place just to be close to one another (Mike had been ordered to reside with his parents until his preliminary hearing which has been postponed – he’s home with us now).

My other concern (Mike’s as well, and the same for our immediate family) was the – as I called it – end of our lives. Less than 24 hours after Mike’s arrest, I realized our lives were far from over, they’d just be different. We are looking at a possibility of some jail time, praying instead for extremely long house arrest, or – by the grace of God – probation. The time from now to sentencing could be up to a year, so we’re nowhere close to knowing where we stand.

I’ve not asked God “Why us?” because I know the answer. It happened to us because of decisions Mike made. I’ve also not asked God why He’s so cruel, because He is not. I’m not yet at a point that I can say “Thank You, God, for allowing my husband to be arrested.” But I am at a point where I can say, “Thank You, God, for using my husband’s arrest to show us how important our family is, and to bring us closer together than we’ve ever been.”

And all of you, those of you who know us well, and those of you who don’t, those of you who understand us, and those of you who can’t yet, thank you for the love and support you’ve shown us, the prayers you’ve said for us, and the outstretched arms you’ve reached for us. At a time we thought shame would send us packing, we’ve been encouraged and uplifted by our wonderful families, church family, and friends who can be called nothing less than family.

No, our lives will never be the same again, but in some ways that’s good, because we’re learning. Learning from our mistakes, learning what’s important and what’s not, and learning to work harder at doing the right things. And the most important thing we’re learning is that family is something you never give up on, something you hold on to as tight as you can, something you NEVER EVER take for granted.

With love, Jessie Rager

Mike’s Note:
I would like to thank everybody for their support and prayers, especially for Jess. She is an extremely strong person to stand by me when I have made terrible mistakes. The encouragement we have received has helped me immensely at those times I have felt the lowest. It has been a tough pill to swallow, but a good wake-up call to get my life and mind straight before anything else might have happened. The embarrassment I’ve caused for everyone in my life has been the worst part and I apologize for that. Our Savior has shown His love for me and I hope you can realize that love and forgive me, too.

(No, Mike did not touch a computer to type this – I took his hand-written words and transferred them to this page.)

Happy First Birthday, Jordy!

On February 16, my little Jordan Brianne turned one.  I cannot believe how much time has gone by since she was born, but she's such a big part of our family that we can hardly remember our lives without her.  She's an adorable, cuddly, sweet, wild and daring ball of energy who has just learned to walk and absolutely loves playing with her sister and her "brothers" (Spike the dog, Spooky and Cassius the kitties).  There's never a dull moment when she's around, and she really keeps Mommy and Daddy on our toes, but we love that about her.  Happy Birthday to my sweet little Jordy!  These photos are a few weeks old (I took them for her party invites), but I'll be sure to add pics from the party itself very soon.

One Reason I Rarely Mop the Floor

Yesterday was cleaning day.  I spent at least 3 straight hours in the afternoon cleaning the entire downstairs of our house.  One of my tasks was to vacuum and mop (very well, might I add) the kitchen floor.  As many of you know, we have a little "hallway" from our kitchen to our coat closet, and at the end of the "hall" is where we keep Spike's food and water dishes, out of the way of everything.

Well, while I was on another task, cleaning the bathroom possibly, I realized I hadn't heard much from Jordan for a while, and went to investigate.  I found that she had slopped every drop of water out of Spike's dish and was licking the water off her hands.  Don't worry too much, I had just scrubbed his dishes clean as well.  But, needless to say, my freshly mopped floor needed some re-mopping.  Instead of getting upset, though, I got out my camera, because who can really get angry with this little cutie?!

Lazy Way Out

Hi Guys.  I know it has been a super long time since I posted, and I have decided to take the easier, lazier way out by posting a link to my photos on Shutterfly rather than adding them on here.  I'm sorry, but I make albums of 200 pics or so each, and it's just too hard for me to choose 5-10 to post on here, not to mention time-consuming.  Anyway, if for some reason the slide-show for the albums isn't working (which is happening when I view the blog right now), just click the link below the album that says "Click here to view these pictures larger" and it will take you right to them.

You can tell pretty much what has been going on with us from the photos, but here are the few things you may not know:

We are expecting a third baby (totally planned) this summer.  My due date as of right now is August 1.
Mike is still searching for a full-time position, but things may be looking up in that area; I'll let you all know what materializes.
I'm in my slower season, so I'm relaxing more now, but it's hard to do that with two kiddos to chase after.  That's why we're having our third now, so we can do all the chasing at one time!

Have a good day!
